Admittedly, this should have been expected. Not that Tony had ego enough to assume-- okay, he did, he had the ego to assume Mystique would pop up again at some inopportune moment, but he wasn't anticipating it would be this moment. Didn't she have something, someone better to do during a massive plague event? But he had been ushering all sorts through his doors lately, letting security go lax to let the civilians get comfortable well above the sound of the zombies' hungry moans and one of them was bound to make his life unnecessarily difficult for the charity. None of them was supposed to make it into the penthouse. So when he stepped into his room, Tony barely acknowledged the white noise of the shower running in the background, a weird anomaly that couldn't be happening so should have easily been explained-- Steve, maybe, if Tony hadn't just seen him charging out the door. He actually had his helmet off before that even occurred to him and he sat heavily in the closest chair, the leather creaking under the Iron Man's weight, dropping the helmet onto the table with his hand still wrapped tightly over its crown while the other squeezed the bridge of his nose. There was a lot of data to sort through before he could pinpoint when the last time he slept was, which was a strong indication it was within the Jesus, Why range and explained the sluggish processing time. He did not have the will to handle whoever thought they could use his conditioner without a kick in the ass.
Slowly, he pulled himself out of his seat, the Iron Man melting away so he could maybe talk this out reasonably and make it quick, without setting anyone off or throwing anyone out a window. The steam rolling out of the shower as he stepped into the washroom was welcome invigoration and Tony closed his eyes for just a second to enjoy it, and when he opened them he forgot to miss the Iron Man for just a second more. God, she was beautiful. He squeezed his fist tight, feeling grit in his palm that he would realize too late again was blood that had dried in his glove, and swung for her mouth.
