"Yeah," a tired sigh broke through her ill attempted chuckle and she shrugged. "Try not to hold it against me." It was good to see Tony though, to see people alive and hear normal voices. Kate didn't try to get away from the examination either, instead just sort of turned her eyes and stared at the ground through her lashes. It was expected. The incoming embrace, however, wasn't, and she swiveled her gaze back up to him with alert regard, not even aware of how much she needed it until her arms slipped around him and her head nuzzled against his shoulder. Kate hadn't known just how exhausted she was--and not just physically--until now, when her guard didn't have to work double time.
Kate didn't know how long she held on to him, or if she'd broken any kind of rules, but at some point she knew she had to let go and explain her sudden arrival. Drawing back, Kate made a glance at the window and squinted, gesturing vaguely toward it before bringing her hand to rest on the back of her neck. "Zombies are planning to take over my apartment any day now, so I jumped ship. Spider-Man gave me a ride here--he told me to tell you I'm cleared. Just in case you weren't entirely convinced." Kate wet her lips, finishing off with the necessary politeness she hoped made up for showing up out of the blue with, "Anyway, I'd like to stay, please, if you don't mind."
