I know your type: tall, dark, and dead Characters: Contessa Setting:Vancouver base Content: Violence and gore Summary: NARRATIVE Notes: So the mutated fungus is in a herbal supplement about to be taking by millions of unsuspecting people. The people will turn to rotting corpse hungry for human flesh and brains and begin killing/infecting people, rapidly! Whooops. Note 2: A flash game version of what's happening to everyone here!
Based on previous meetings, Tess didn’t expect good news from Dr. Ferrara. How could things gone so wrong, he would steal be grasping for a position with the CDC if she hadn’t offered him an obscene amount of money to humor her theory on a mysterious Amazonian fungi that was creating ”zombified” insects after killing them and controlling them. If her theory was correct her lab could mutate the spore so that it can affect humans without killing them and could be controlled by a person rather than a mushroom in the jungle.
“Madam Hydra! I know you said to not-“
“To not disturb me with ‘developments’ I just want results, so tell me Doctor, do we have results.”
“Um, well in a way but I wouldn’t call them the desired results. More of a, well an accident.” He answered. The stout balding biologist was sweating profusely and was white as a sheet.
“An accident?! You called me here for a spill?”
“It’s not so simple it’s-“ Tess was in no mood to play twenty question she pushed past the doctor into the viewing area of the surgical theatre. The floor was covered in blood
“What am I seeing? What’s happened?!”
“The fifth trial happened!” The doctor said. “Yesterday we truly thought we cracked it. We gave each subject a pill containing the mutated fungi. The subjects were the right level of submissive yet responsive. We played the tape of you asking them to waltz and each of them danced, it was perfect. But this morning we found the subjects listless. They said they had a hunger for raw meat. They were also showing signs of skin abrasions consistent with decay.”
“That doesn’t explain the blood Doctor,”
“By the afternoon their emotion turned to mindless aggression they attacked the lab techs one made it out alive with a bite but now she’s showing some of the symptoms of the test subjects.”
“So the accident is that you’ve wasted my money and my time?”
“No Madame Hydra, the accident is that in the heat of the moment we decided to go ahead and test things out on a bigger test pool. As we speak our brand of herbal supplement is being tested on every continent. “
Tess’ lip quivered in anger. A pandemic was not what she paid for. Just as she was thinking of the most creative ways of killing him they were interrupted by a loud siren and another lab tech asking them to go to the other surgical theatre. Inside, was a truly horrific scene. Reanimated corpses were feasting on one lab tech while the remains of his former colleagues were rapidly decaying on the ground and twitching uncontrollably.
“There are bodies in three other surgical theaters Madame Hydra and the girl who was bitten has turned into a…well for a lack of a better word, a zombie!”
Tess went weak in the knees as she tried to process what was going to happen. The two scientists voices turned into a murmur and the room began to spin. In a matter of days parts of Canada and the north east part of the United States was going to have a zombie outbreak anything in contact with their fluids will develop symptoms and there by spreading the disease. It’d be almost perfect if it were planned. She looked over at the plump doctor, pulled out her gun and shot him between the eyes.
“Take this buffoon back to where we found him with a copy of all of his research, as far as I’m concerned HYDRA had nothing to do with this, this was a mad man’s pipe dream and it’s WHO’s problem now. As for this lab, torch the place to the ground.”
She left the viewing deck and made her way out of the chaotic laboratory. She wasn’t foolish enough to actually believe they could sweep this all under the rug, she would be found out so the best thing to do now was to run and wait until the whole thing blew over. Which could be a month or so...right?
