There is no security on this Earth...
Characters: Nick Fury, Tony Stark
Setting: A swanky New York restaurant
Content: No idea yet
Summary: Nick tries to entice Tony to rejoin the Avengers
Nick Fury was getting irritated. Tap...tap...tap unconsciously he tapped his fingers on the table top. The voicemail message he'd left on Tony Stark's phone had said one and it was now twelve after. A military man, Nick had always been a stickler for promptness. To be fair, he noted to himself, you don't even know if he's going to show. And then- no, he'll show. The thought was firm and convincing because he needed it to be, because he needed to believe that he still had some pull with Tony Stark. The waiter bustled by and refilled Nick's water glass and he glanced around at the other diners in the posh restaurant he'd chosen for the lunch meeting. Not a single one of them were civilians; all were undercover S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Of course his people weren't going to let S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director hold an "important" meeting anywhere that could be compromised. Security measures for Nick and the other Avengers had become somewhat ridiculous since Saturday. Though he was both angry at Wanda for her lack of responsiveness to the explosion, he couldn't help but feel guilty that he had sent her there to become a target. For her own father. Magneto certainly was something else. Nick couldn't fathom it, so he didn't. Instead he went over his spiel in his head again and again. He had so many angles planned, so many points and hooks to try to catch Tony and reel him back in. The question, of course, was would any of it work? When the waiter came back by he ordered a martini and when it arrived he slid it across the table to rest in front of the empty chair he hoped Stark might soon occupy. Nick laughed to himself- perhaps the martini would work like magic and lure Tony there.
