Kate caught on and refuted the idea immediately. Both of them could have gone with Billy, but made the decision not to, and if Cassie was going to change her mind and go after him, it was too late for that because there was a high chance that he was already back in their universe. Even if he wasn't and got a hold of her, Cassie was not going to just go and leave Kate behind like that, that was--no. Just no. Kate shook her head and sipped her coffee. At least Tony seemed to see the flaws in that. In any case, it was good he told her, otherwise she wasn't sure how much more of a help she could be.
His ignorance was acknowledged with the faintest smile--Kate supposed he had to be a teenage girl to know some of the important aspects of Cassie's life. That or just super attentive. Yeah, she had other friends. Kate let her eyes float up to the ceiling, looking thoughtful as she idly drummed her fingers against her mug. “Well, I mean--” Reclining into the chair she splayed her hands on the table and sighed. “There’s Daisy.” If he hadn’t known who Kate was, she was going to venture off and assume that he probably wasn’t all that familiar with Daisy either.
“She’s a good friend of Cassie’s. You know, the girl: she’s around my age, dark hair, doesn’t seem to smile a lot...?” Kate cast him an encouraging look, but at the same time with the kind of intensity that she hoped would urge him to catch on. “She was at your holiday party?”
