“You found what?” Kurt asked, sighing at the interruption and for a long moment didn’t open his eyes. When he did it was to give the child a pitying look which quickly turned to confusion. He remembered now, they’d left a gun in the room and that woman had picked it up. Kurt looked over at her body and shook his head- that meant that Sebastian had taken the gun from her corpse.
“What do you intend to do with that?” he asked as calmly as he could. Kurt could see three options. The boy intended to shoot their captors. The boy intended to shoot himself. The boy intended to shoot Kurt. None of these seemed like particularly good options at all and he was going to do his best to explain that to the boy. If he tried to shoot their captors it might make things worse for them. If he shot himself or murdered Kurt, then what would happen to his soul in the afterlife? Kurt still believed the best thing to do now was to wait and to accept their fate and trust in a higher power above all of this cruelty and tragedy. He held up his hands cautiously. “Do nothing stupid, my friend.”
