"It is worth thinking about!" Kurt mumbled to himself in protest. Annoying as it was that they'd ignored his suggestion, he could expect little else. They were already looking at him and treating him as if he were some kind of freak. That didn't necessarily mean he wanted either of them to die just because they didn't seem to want to think out the question. There were always multiple options in any situation and he still thought it was a trick question. He read the note again while the boy was talking and eventually- tentatively- came to a similar conclusion to the woman's. Kurt supposed that if it had meant February it would have said only. Perhaps if they all picked the same answer none of them would have to die (unless they all picked the wrong answer and all had to die, but Kurt wasn't willing to consider that possibility).
HYDRA wouldn't have been Kurt's first guess, either, and it still didn't sound particularly viable to him. There were plenty of villains who liked to play with their food before they ate it, so to speak. That the child was so quick to make that connection had Kurt suspicious and he would've asked the same question as the woman did had she not done so first. When she chose not to wait for an answer Kurt followed her gaze around the room and his settled on the vent. He climbed up on a table, reaching upward with his tail to see if he could pry the grate loose. Perhaps it would not prove useful but at least he was doing something other than simply panicking.
