This might give the alligators living in the sewers a run for their money. What the hell...? Kate slowed down to a near stop, scanning the body of little lizard people. The same questions that ran through Cassie’s head ran through hers, and it almost made her reluctant to shoot--if those were the people in the subway, then something had obviously turned them which meant whatever that something was, it had the power to turn them back, right? So it was a matter of finding the source and sorting this thing out. Part of it, anyway.
“We should--” Crack. She winced. The sound of glass crushed beneath her foot, which was really inconvenient because it turned out that these creepy little reptiles had really good hearing. One whipped its attention toward the trio; like a domino-effect, the rest of the party followed suit, frozen in their alarming stance with their heads turned until another of them broke into an ugly hiss and came charging forward, claws out.
"Sorry, guys,” Kate muttered to her companions with her bow up. With a swift twang, the young Hawkeye shot the leading creature down and braced herself for the riot of them coming forth. Time for a little target practice.
