Oh, New York was right. Though she had to admit, she hadn’t expected to run into trouble so soon. After switching into her own fighting attire, Kate loaded her belt and leg holster and then brought out her bow from her back pack. After watching her weapon unfold to its full body length, she pulled an arrow from her quiver and nodded to Cassie. And so they had a tunnel monster to slay.
She had to wonder where Daisy stood in this immediate decision, after all, Kate obviously didn’t know what Cassie knew about the girl. But then, she trusted Cassie and she was pretty sure that she wouldn’t have been so quick to get involved if Daisy didn’t know a thing or two already. So she guessed it safe to assume that, to an extent, they were all on a level of commonality.
Taking Cassie’s cue, Kate jumped down onto the tracks--but not without the other girls--and edged closely along the wall of the tunnel, the night vision of her scope switched on automatically as they strayed away from their original light source and dipped deeper into the darkness. “No sign of movement,” she whispered over to her partners, keeping her bow firmly raised. Heh. Yeah. No sign, yet.
