Wanda froze at Tony's words and for a fraction of a second she was at a complete loss. Actually trying to get him to talk about himself in any meaningful capacity was near to impossible and here he was volunteering information without Wanda even trying. She processed what he'd said, dismissed his flippancy, and drew away to look up at him with a smile. Whatever he may have thought of having gone to a meeting, Wanda knew exactly what she thought of it.
"Tony, I am so proud of you," she told him, and she meant it. This was a worthwhile accomplishment and a step in the right direction. No matter how many times he had to take that step, taking it at all was an improvement in his life and a very good thing. She wondered if anyone ever told him that or if Tony ever received true praise beyond hollow thanks for things they expected from him in the first place. People who knew him (including herself, Wanda realized regretfully) probably took it for granted that someone like Tony, who could do anything, actually needed encouragement for anything. But everyone deserved it, even a man who saved the world. Especially a man who saved the world.
She couldn't pretend to know exactly what he was going through, but he'd confided in her and she would do her best to support him whether he wanted her support or not. "You do so much for everyone else, you deserve to do something for you. I'm glad for you, and I'm proud of you and I'm sorry that I haven't said so every day, because you are-" She paused and briefly pressed her forehead to his, her eyes closed. None of the ways she could think to describe him would be nearly good enough, but she would still try.
"An incredible person, Tony. You're my hero," she squeezed his fingers and gave a quiet laugh, as she sat back once more. "And probably a lot of other people's, too, but definitely mine."
