That was a relief. Cassie's smile was mirrored until she returned Tony's question, and he waved his hand and shook his head to dismiss it. He probably would have had a much harder time of it if he was alone, but he could answer vaguely, though not without humbled appreciation, "Thanks to you." He should have anticipated someone being able to overload his heart implant and use it against him, and now he knew better, even if the learning process was a little jarring. Taking a deep breath, appreciating small blessings, he glanced back at Cap who now had a fleet of policemen to back him up and take Whiplash into custody, and started thinking clean-up before he got too caught up in self-loathing.
"Go with Cap and get that checked out," he instructed when he met Cassie's eye again, pointedly not looking down to take in the extent of her injuries. "He's got something for you back at the Tower. I'll sort this out and meet you back there, okay?" he promised, giving her another tight smile. Though he did fully intend to correct the damage done on the highway, Tony didn't really anticipate making it back to the penthouse any time soon. This new Whiplash needed to be interrogated, and Tony needed to head to the garage to rethink his power flow, not to mention pick up a new gift for the birthday girl to make up for this disaster. After that, well, there was always something to do. Dates, meetings, jetting off to the other side of the world.
