That was the accent. As soon as Rogue said it, Tony nodded, kicking himself for not nailing it straight out of the gate. He took a moment to relax against the seat, propping his other elbow up on the back and leaving his hand dangling to gesture at his side. "Right here," he answered, then gave a shrug, not exactly, and canted his head to specify, "Long Island." It wasn't anything that wasn't already public knowledge, and by his affect he was obviously proud of his city. He had certainly left a big enough impression on it to show it. More importantly, he was glad that she was relaxed enough here to even ask, because he had to push forward before Cassie joined them.
"Listen," he started, eyes cast down for the moment as he shifted in his seat so she didn't feel immediately threatened again by the tone. "I don't know how you got from Caldecott County to working with a man like Magneto but I do know that if you stay there for much longer that it will be your last stop. You don't..." Tony paused, searching for the word he wanted, then finally met Rogue's gaze again with a brief smile before he finished a little grimly, "deserve that." He shook his head, because they both knew that and he wanted her to acknowledge it before he went on. He said, "The problem is you don't have a lot of options now. S.H.I.E.L.D. is fickle with their second chances." Tony shrugged again, frowning, then pressed his lips together to hold back anything else he had to say while he waited to hear what kind of solution Rogue thought they could work out here. As much as Tony wanted to help, she had to help herself before they were throwing down again.
