It was a wonder he had the charisma to gain so many loyal followers. Maybe he just had a good point. How he went about it, though... The tone of Rogue's voice made it sound like she could barely justify it. Even Tony, who claimed confidently he could see the future and had killed for mercy himself, couldn't imagine how a person would.
They landed heavily on the roof of Stark Tower and Iron Man let Rogue slide down with the force to catch her behind the knees and keep her in both arms as he straightened and found his balance on solid ground. He couldn't exactly trust her to let her go, but didn't know what to do with her either; there was still noise in his head as S.H.I.E.L.D. worked to contain the breakout, and none of it sounded good. "If I put you down, can you promise not to tear up my garden?" he asked skeptically, sure that his landscaping would go unscathed but less sure she wouldn't try to kick him again, or fly away.
