Alex had tried to rear back when the spider dropped, eyes flashing ineffectively. And suddenly, both Avengers were gone up into the trees, and Alex looked around more anxiety than he was willing to admit, propped up against the tree. He fumbled until his hand found a fallen branch short enough for him to wield as some sort of rudimentary weapon, and he pushed himself forward onto his knees with a huff, head twisting around to look for signs of the spider, or that woman, or - there was a sudden hiss and Alex batted away the snake he'd nearly missed with a hard swing.
