Coast
Characters: Cassie, Billy and Daisy
Setting: Pier 62, morning
Content: The mouth on this girl.
Summary: The girls hang out. Probably get into trouble. It just follows them around.
It had rained in the night and the city sucked up the wetness like a sponge, refusing to let it go and remaining swimmingly humid with puddles of dirty water all along the sidewalks and in pits in Central Park. Further south and sitting on the Hudson River, Pier 62 at least enjoyed a breeze from the water to push the fog away, but everything still felt hazy and slow and even the sun straining through the dampness and heating up the concrete couldn't soak up all of the puddles, making the park a maze to navigate. Most importantly, clothes were heavy and felt sticky and uncomfortable no matter where in the city one walked, so it was best to find a place where one didn't have to wear too much of them. Daisy reclined lazily on her padded elbows, with her head tipped back and throat exposed to the persistent sun and her sunglasses threatening to tip back over the top of her head. Above her, three signs read in order: PLEASE WEAR A HELMET AT ALL TIMES, SKATEBOARDS ONLY and THIS PARK IS UNSUPERVISED. With a last push from the breeze, her heavy foot, which had been slowly tipping, fell to the side to clack the buckles of her inline skates onto the smoothed, white concrete. There weren't many others there at that time; it was very early in the season and the weather was unpredictable, and it was just early enough in the morning that the regular crew was still contending with the worst part of their hangovers. The group would be pretty well undisturbed for a few hours. There was only the occasional low rumble, like an oncoming storm, then ssssswip as one of the few skaters that were there came barreling towards them and caught air off of the edge of the halfpipe where they lounged at the top, disappearing as quickly as he came. The latest threw a shadow over Daisy, causing her to raise her head and rejoin reality.
"So you're a wizard," she initiated after the long, lazy pause in conversation, her tone suggesting she couldn't care less, but she turned towards Billy with an eyebrow arched over her glasses. There weren't a whole lot of pure magic types she knew of, but they all seemed to prefer different titles like doing magic wasn't fucking unique enough for them. That must have been bad for the sense of community. Coven...ity? When she had invited Cassie out and away from the stuffy duties between them, Daisy had no objection to her bringing a friend along, but it was certainly an unexpected one. Small world. Or, being in this business, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers basically being roommates, they were all bound to have extraordinary friends.
