The annual fundraiser for the Museum of Modern Art was the highlight of New York's Spring social calendar. The 5th floor garden was lavishly appointed with elegant lighting, as music played softly in the background. Men in suits milled around with women wearing stylish evening dresses, while drinks flowed from the well stocked bar.
Everything's right where you left it Danny thought, as he walked out onto the 5th' floor garden. He wore an immaculately tailored suit he'd bought only the day before, in his rush to get serious with his new position. As he strolled out amidst the blue-bloods, he couldn't help but be reminded of a party he'd once hosted in his building at K'un L'un Plaza. He sighed sadly to himself at the painful memory. He had been so hopeful, presiding over his own charity and martial arts school in the inner city. He'd been so ready to make a difference- for the kids of the city, and for the mutants whose cause he'd decided to champion. And now here he was, a year and a half later, the building at K'un L'un Plaza was demolished, his charity had been overwhelmed by the depression. Meanwhile Danny was fresh from his stint as a homeless vigilante in the back alleys of Harlem. Now he was an Avenger, a part-time teacher at the Xavier School, and new head of the Maria Stark Foundation. Yin and Yang. The more things change, the more they stay the same he thought as an irrepressible smile formed, and he made a bee-line for the bar.
