Lorna had finished putting the food away and was now over the stove making some fresh veggie stir fry, "Yep. Only way to live. Too much polution and needless cruelty to the Earth as it is. We keep going this way and we won't have a planet to call home anymore... a lot sooner than anyone really knows. I'd like to have kids some day, ya know? Have a husband and nice house and a dog or something... and I want those kids to be able to go outside and play and not have to wear gas masks and leave through air locks because the world can't keep up with the virus that is humanity."
She flipped the veggies expertly before turning off the heat and splitting the small amount between two plates and handing one to Jean. A fork came after and she started to dig in, "We keep stripping the forests down and not curbing our emissions, we could end up like the folks on the Izu Islands in Japan. And unlike them, we wouldn't be getting paid for it."
