The local campus was pretty small, a few old brick buildings clustered together just a few blocks north of Central Park. If a person didn't have a decent scholarship (or several), the cost of renting a nearby apartment would bankrupt any asspiring student. A result of this was that only the obscenely rich or those with a lot of scholarship funding actually went to this branch of New York State University.
Lorna was one of the lucky scholarship keepers and even then, she still shared her little one bedroom place with two other girls. Almost dorm living, college life at its finest.
The young co-ed stumbled as she walked, almost spilling the brown bag of groceries she was carrying. She had to pause and set the bag down so she could re-tie her shoe, tucking the string under the tounge of the worn out sneakers. Then she pulled at her hair, tightening the ponytail that managed to keep her curly green tresses out of her eyes. A lack of wind helped.
Then she picked her bag back up and began walking, glancing at the ground with her first few steps to make sure she hadn't accidentally dropped anything. Only to find herself spilling the bag anyway after she practially barreled into a red-headed girl with a duffel bag over her shoulder.
"Oh my god! I am so so so so so so so so so so so so SO sorry!" Lorna babbled as bent over to pick up her groceries. Oh great, there went the eggs.
