Magnus was not, for once, holed up in his study but was instead in the manor's garden where he'd just been meeting with a new arrival to the island. Once they finished their business and the newcomer was sent away he stayed sitting in the garden for a moment, relishing its tranquility. He was just getting to his feet when Tabitha came bounding towards him and Magnus watched her, his eyebrows raised. The mansion was generally closed to anyone but family and those who were expressly invited. Clearly, the doorman was doing a rather poor job. Judging by the look on Tabitha's face, however, something was amiss so Magnus supposed he could not fault the doorman's allowing her entrance without his personal consent in the face of an emergency. "What is it, child?" he asked when she'd drawn nearer.
