Apparently "reasonable" wasn't going to be applied to any of the night's proceedings. In retrospect Wanda should have expected this, of course, and would later wonder why she hadn't been shielding herself from the start. Surprise perhaps (after all, Mystique couldn't have succeeded as an assassin if she wasn't fast), or that stupid whim to actually allow Mystique to offer some explanation other than what was the obvious truth. Mystique's impassioned invective and, subsequently, being throttled by her wasn't doing much to convince Wanda that the woman was anything other than what she'd always known her as. A murderous traitor.
"Let go!" she snarled, trying to pry Mystique's fingers from around her neck. Her free hand began to glow and she held it inches from Mystique's face, repeating her command, "Let. Go."
