"It's going to be the party of all parties," Mitch promised her back in Genosha. She had been staying on the island more and more these days awaiting her orders but Mitch was pretty persuasive. Really! That was one of his special talents. To his credit he was never wrong. It was truly a fantastic Neon Paint rave in New York! They were like glowing pagans dancing to thumping bass on the paint covered dance floor. The test tube shots were questionable, by the fifth bright green one Wicked was three sheets and she was covered in various paints. The last thing she remembered was sitting next to Mitch who's face was covered in pink, and hearing him make a case that together they'd make a brilliant new color.
The next morning something was off. It had nothing to do with the fact that the guy next to her wasn't Mitch or that she had no idea where she was. Something was missing, for the first time in her life she felt as if she was completely alone. Then it dawned on her, they were all gone, all of them. There were at least thirty ghosts in the building when she stumbled up the stairs the night before and now they were gone. Not a single one of them was lingering around. Unfortunately there was no time to process this, the man laying next to her was a awake and needy. As he snaked his arm around her waist she let out an irritated groan, swatted them away and got up from the bed to go to the shower. She really didn't have time for this. It was well passed sun up, and she usually left before then to avoid this type of crap.
He got up and rushed ahead of her closing the bathroom door. Clearly he thought this was a sort of game. It wouldn't be a big deal if he hadn't taken her clothes with him.
"Don't tell me you have to go, you'll break my heart!" He called from he other side.
"...dude. Seriously?!" She rolled her eyes
She wasn't playing around with this guy. She was hungover, covered in paint, and she was pretty sure her powers were MIA. She was keeping it cool on the outside but on the inside she was freaking out, it was like a room full of people had vanished, it was unnerving and surreal.
She got in position to break the door down like Nick taught her. With a strong heave she shoved the door. There was the sensation of passing through air as her shoulder hit the door. She expected to bounce back and have to do it again but instead she found her self ramming into the sink. "Shit!" she hissed rubbing her elbow. What the hell was that?! She knew she was a little hungover but she wasn't hallucinating. She passed through the door and the door didn't open! If she wasn't outwardly freaking out before, she was now. She couldn't feel the ghosts anymore and now she was walking through doors and...people. The guy was slumped over on the floor completely unconscious.
"Christ!"
She was never going to another party with Mitch again!
