Characters: Susan Storm; OTA Setting: New York City Coffee Bar Content: Nothing bad, folks! Summary: Susan enjoys a cup of coffee and works. The girl needs a life!
It would be a lie for her to say that she did not miss the rest of her team, even Johnny. Being the only member of the Fantastic Four was devastating and she was beginning to feel like an endangered species for sure. Even though Tony was nice enough to let her come over and hang with the Avengers when she wanted, she still missed her small group and why wouldn't she? They had become freaks together! Not to mention, they saved the world on occasion together too! All of this stuff built bonds and none of which she was willing to severe easily. In the time they needed her the most, she was unable to do more than sit at a coffee bar and sip her nine dollar latte with the rest of New York's elite. Granted, she had brought her work with her, lab top screen portraying numerous data findings for her latest searches on her wayward team, but it did nothing to ease the guilt riding her soul. She felt like a failure.
"Miss. Storm! Miss. Storm!"
The little girl's voice rang out amongst the sound of whip cream and mixing coffee and immediately drew Susan's attention downward where she stood, pad in her hands and a pen waving around eagerly. It was cute. Adorable. The blond took the pen and signed the book easily, waving to the mom not too far off, and sent the girl on her way with a soft, kind word to hopefully make another brilliant science chick out of her. Watching the girl hop away, Sue couldn't help, but wonder if she would ever know motherhood. Would it be with Reed? Would they be lucky enough? Perhaps, someday. But what kind of life could they give a child? Pain, loss, agony, no it was no childhood, but it didn't stop her from going to the white picket fence and house she built in her mind with a mysterious husband along the way. Sighing softly, she pulled her mind out of the clouds and back to the glowing screen, focusing on the numbers zooming in front of her blue eyes and sipping her latte.
