"Famished," Wanda answered and leaned her head against his shoulder as he led her from the entryway into a long hallway. As she would have expected from its outside, the inside of the manor was delightfully picturesque. The dark wood floors of the passage were polished to a high shine and ornate tapestries hung on the walls. An old fashioned elegance that would have appeared artificial in any place without age or setting to support it seemed rather natural and fitting here.
Fire Lake Mansion was certainly more in keeping with Daimon’s shop, and Wanda imagined that beyond the hallway, there were rooms of old tomes and gilded candelabra, secret passageways and heavy velvet curtains. It reminded her of her father’s home in Genosha, except that Daimon’s home achieved something that, in style, Magnus had striven for in decor and fallen far short of. Compared to this, Magnus’ home was a behemoth placed ludicrously on a tropical island, built by ostentatious idealism and a forced sense of class. This place was a wish for prestige fulfilled long before Wanda had been born, cultivated and not contrived. It was perfect.
The pair entered the kitchen, a room which had clearly been renovated. Architecturally, it retained a classic look, but all of its appliances were conveniently modern. It struck Wanda as strange to think that Daimon really did live here, and not in the city. She’d come to view his little apartment as a home away from home, and she spent time there even when he wasn’t around. With an embarrassed flush she realized that she considered that apartment above the shop as their place. It was a silly thought, obviously, since they weren’t even in a proper “relationship”- but then, if they weren’t something, why had he brought her here? Rather than have to unravel the mysteries of their romantic status, Wanda chose instead to wander around the kitchen and finally settle herself against a counter.
"So," she began with a teasing smile, "Are you going to conjure up a full course meal?" Honestly, she wouldn't put that past him. Daimon seemed to want to show off and Wanda was more than willing to be charmed.
