When she asked about saving her life, Paige didn't think it'd be quite this literal. "Whoa now--" her eyes widened, heart skipping a beat at the rapid sequence of Matt bringing her to a halt and the bicyclist buzzing by like a bat straight out of hell. Paige simply did not see that coming.
Maybe she should spend a little less time focused on that winsome smile of his and a little more on the world around her. Distraction was getting her in a lot of trouble today. But wait just a minute--
If she hadn't seen that bike coming at them...how'd he?
Paige glanced around her shoulder and then the other, and then around every other direction as if the answer to that might just show up on a nearby stop sign or light post. "Yeah, Ah...but if ya do know a...place...we should...go...” was her drawn out response, still perplexed by what just briefly transpired.
Her hand hadn’t left his yet, and when she finally averted her attention back to him, she had a quizzical look on her face, a breathless chuckle fluttering in her throat as she asked, “How’d ya know that bike was comin’ our way? Ah didn’t even...hear the thing, let alone see it!”
