"Oh that's easy!" She chirped. "Save up every penny, buy a ticket, cross yer fingers and hope it don't turn out ta be the biggest mistake of yer life." Sighing contently, Paiged added, "So far so good, ah ain't got a reason ta complain yet. But Ah guess ya wanna know why the big apple, huh?"
That was also easy; she was a mutant who'd been determined to be apart of the X-Team. And now that she was, she felt pretty damned fulfilled. Paige looked up at him. Saying any of that was a risk, though -- it was always a risk, never knowing how a person might react, and folks around here had no problem being outright cruel about it. Paige was awfully proud of who she was, but she really did have to be careful about who she bragged to. No matter how cute the person might be.
"There are a lot of opportunities here that Ah wouldn't have had back home. Ah needed ta be on own, determined ta make somethin' of mahself." A moment's pause and suddenly Paige burst into soft giggles. "Country girl goin' to the big city to make her dreams come true, that's just a Lifetime movie waitin' ta happen, ain't it? Oh wait--it already has." Fingers pressed against her lips to stifle her laughter, she shook her head.
"Classic. It's true, though. Ah set mah mind on somethin' and Ah'm doin' it. Ah do miss home, though." She sighed. "What Ah wouldn't do for a slice of mah momma's cherry pie right now."
