There was another familiar face in the crowd, one with a cute young date, but not they one he'd planned. Her mother had switched his visitation without telling him, and this was an important event for getting his face out there. He wasn't going to let Justine keep him from cornering a member of the media.
Justin laughed, adjusting his glasses and trying very hard to keep the lovely young journalist's attention on himself, but there was a tugging on his suit pants that was growing more and more distracting.
"Justine, sweetie, Daddy's talking to the nice lady now, so you need to wait just a second, okay?" he said, putting on a smile and pushing Justine slightly away from himself, awkwardly ruffling her hair. "...Wait, no, hang on," he tugged her back, pushing her hair back into place. "All right, now shush."
