Jean wrapped her arms tightly around her petite frame and looked down at her sneakers again. "I'm sorry, Paige, but I can't lie to a friend and a teammate. I respect you too much for that. You deserve to know what you are hanging around with", she finished darkly and looked up, locating the small group of mutants behind Paige once more and nodded in their direction to clarify everything was okay.
When the blond mutant snapped at her, Jean was startled, but deep inside it touched her to think Paige would not abandon her, even after everything she had done. For a moment, her green eyes shimmered with tears as she looked at the other girl, but she swallowed them down and nodded.
"Sure", she said softly, voice trembling again as sobs attempted to take over again and destroy her precious self control, "I would like that". The red head hadn't talked to anyone about the incident fully since Kitty and even than, she had kept a good portion of what she had felt during it all locked up tight. She didn't want to sound like she wasn't taking responsibility for what had happened when everyday it hurt to know she had ended lives and literally incapacitated another superhero. There had been something though, she was sure of it, another consciousness, another power that reared its ugly head on occasion. None of it made sense, but she wanted to talk to someone.
"I know. I'm trying, but its hard. I almost killed her and-" she sighed and quickly wiped her eyes with the back of her jacket sleeve, "Not something you get over easily, but thank you. Thank you so much".
