"Pietro, Darling, of course I came. Daddy too. We're busting you out." She reached towards the lock, wondering what she could do to it with her powers, when a yell made her pause.
“Stop right there!” a voice called out from behind her and she turned, rolling her eyes at the guard with a gun pointed at her. He was young, handsome, and obviously frightened. His hand holding the gun was shaking- she could only conclude that he was either new or that this was not his usual guard detail. Probably happened upon her by accident. “Oh put that down, sweetheart, you don’t want to shoot me,” she smiled widely and the man blinked in confusion.
“Step away from that cell!” he commanded in a wavering voice. Wanda stood with her hands on her hips, regarding him with a vague interest as though he were some curiosity. “Aw, you don’t want me to hurt you,” she answered amiably and the man looked uncertain.
“You’re unarmed,” he pointed out and Wanda laughed. She raised her hands and when they began to glow he shot at her, emptying his gun’s magazine. Wanda deflected the bullets and when his gun was empty he dove for the wall opposite Pietro's cell and a control pad there. “I’ll flood his cell with poisonous gas! Don’t move!” he threatened and Wanda’s smile, which had remained on her face even as he shot at her, finally slipped.
“Honey, you’ve just made the biggest mistake of your life. I was going to let you live. There’s very little that drives me to kill, but threatening him- well, that’ll do it.” As she finished speaking her hands began to glow once more and the man gave a horrified scream as his body began spontaneously combusted.
“Pity,” Wanda murmured and turned back to Pietro’s cell. “So, that panel over there, will it open the lock?” she asked as though nothing had just happened.
