Nick endured Tony's scrutiny complacently, never once glancing over at him and giving him clipped answers to any questions he asked. He kind of liked that Stark had that much faith in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s intel, now he just wished it actually lived up to expectations. The interrogation on Wanda's end seemed to be garnering frustratingly little by way of useful information about where Crystal was from and what her people were like.
His attention was removed from the screens for a few moments as an agent came in to speak with him, and he only glanced back in time to notice the fog on the lens and see Tony pushing into the interrogation room. Nick did not follow suit, only waited and watched and listened and as he did so, he came to a realization. There was something about Crystal that just didn't make sense to him and when she answered Wanda's second refusal, Fury finally knew what it was.
Crystal appeared to Fury to have a childish simplicity that was completely at odds to everything she supposedly was. An extraterrestrial in the body of an adult with dangerous powers and all sorts of advanced tech, that acted like a bratty kid who didn't understand why you weren't going to buy them that toy or let them spoil their appetite for dinner with ice cream. She threw tantrums like his own daughter had when she was a petulant six year old.
Maybe pop culture had ruined his ideals or something, but Nick had always believed aliens- well, humanoid ones anyway- were supposed to be really bright. He would've expected Crystal to be as smart as, if not smarter, than mere human beings like Stark or Reed Richards. He expected her to be logical, but there were logical leaps she just wasn't making, things she didn't understand, that he couldn't attribute to naivete, foreignness, or even culture shock. If she was putting on an act, it was a great one, and there was the possibility she was a very good liar and he would have to keep his eye on her. If she really was so painfully naive, then Fury could manipulate her. Either way, he was about to find out and either way she might still prove useful.
He stepped into the room with a small smile and leaned against the table, regarding Crystal. "Honey, you are a royal pain in the ass," he announced, but grinned at her, "And you don't take 'no' for an answer. So here it is, your pseudo-hubby's on the island of Genosha. Any mutant in the city can tell you what you need to do to get there and-" he paused here and dug some money from his wallet, slapping bills down on the table, "Here's some cash to get you started."
His tone changed to one of mock seriousness and feeling he didn't actually possess as he straightened and gestured towards the still open door, showing her that she was no longer a 'prisoner.' "Now go to him, girl, go to the man you love." His smirk stayed in place and he caught Wanda and Tony's gazes, willing them to stay silent with a barely perceptible shake of his head. They'd just have to trust him; he was Nick Fury after all.
