One fact that had been reiterated more than enough for Tony was that Wanda was his friend. It could be argued that he didn't really know what that meant, but he did undeniably know that it was true. Tony, of course, was also sure that he knew what that meant, and the fact that Wanda felt the need to educate him was agonizing. Note.txt: Definitely offensive. Suggest hydrangeas.
Guilt wasn't enough to keep Tony from pouting in irritation for the lecture, and he turned away from her, looking dismally down at their hands like he endured a particularly common calculus lesson. He was starting to hate friends, this relationship that was just all of the bad parts of everything else. Pro bono consultant. Sexless marriage. Abruptly, while Wanda was silent, Tony kissed her knuckles in apology, and was only grateful when she made her excuse. He could smile back easily, absolutely glittering like he looked into a camera, and said, "That would cause a riot." Courteously standing with Wanda, he took her hand back before she could go and pulled her close to leave her with a brusque kiss to her cheek, like he forgot his chivalry half way through the motion. He dropped back to his seat in the chariot immediately, lounging across it like he was just waiting for her to go so he might take advantage of the room to relax and watch the carnival twirl around him.
