Billy was trying to be cheerful, he really was. This was a carnival. This was for charity. This was for Cap. And until ARMOR sent them out there was nothing he could do to find Teddy, but he couldn't stop the heavy weight of guilt that had been following him like a dark cloud. He'd made the rounds, had some cake, delivered an embarrassingly lame hand drawn card to Cap, and waited in line at the kissing booth for Tony (FOR CHARITY!), and then again for Cap. And now he was left sitting on a bench, twirling a candy apple between his fingers. He couldn't bring himself to eat it yet. It reminded him too much of his last proper date with Teddy. Valentines. Teddy had tried to make them candied apples, but it had turned into a disastrous mess. So they'd gone out for them instead, and the headed for Coney Island. It was closed, naturally, and so they'd just eaten their apples, and Teddy dared him to jump in the river...
He smiled wistfully, and gave a sigh. He missed the stupid quiet things like that most of all.
