"Exactly," Wanda agreed, trying her best to be optimistic, which was difficult when their cake batter looked like, well, something that would be found dripping down a wall in a horror movie. She stared at the rectangular pan as Jessica scrapped in the concoction and still watched, chewing her lip, as the pans were slid into the oven. She felt like there was something else important they'd forgotten to do but a scan of the recipe didn't help ease her mind or help her to remember. After a couple minutes she gave up and fetched a clean bowl so they could start up on the frosting. "Okay, so, cream cheese, butter, and vanilla. Beaten until it is light and fluffy. I really think we need a mixer for this part. There's got to be one around here somewhere." And she went looking for it, meticulously moving from cabinet to cabinet until, triumphantly, she located it and brought it over to the counter.
