Iron Man finally straightened, shoulders back and fists at his sides. Quicksilver's discomfort was easier to take than the way he had delivered his own tortures; like at least they were together in the thought that it wasn't normal. But it made him suddenly so aware of human vulnerability, and so thankful for his metal shell. There was an ache in him for this family, and he should have realized long ago what kind of lives they must have lead to become what they were. He should have been there to stop it. Wasn't that what heroes did?
All of his 'why's he knew there was no real answer for, so for a long time he was quiet again. Eventually, though, he did come up with one he didn't understand; "Why didn't you come with her? When she joined the Avengers."
