Re: DAY ONE-- Homebase, Open to Tony
Wanda's hug was returned impulsively, but from there went tense as Tony tried to adjust to the undefined limits of what was appropriate anymore. This was difficult when one wasn't even certain if there were parameters, never mind what they might have been, particularly when he would have made this a far more intimate greeting/reunion/celebration/reassurance/possible last chance before they were overcome and eaten by aliens, before either of them even had to speak if he wasn't naggingly aware of these hypothetical parameters. It occurred to him that the best course of action might have been to explain the situation to Wanda, but Tony disregarded it as rather low priority, all things considered, which left him with nothing much to stop him from sighing contentedly into her hair at the kiss. Right, it didn't really matter right then. Besides, it wasn't like it was the sex he thought about, only a little (a lot), when he found a spare moment to check in on her while she slept, just waiting for her to wake up and find him and let him pull her into bed. Okay, that had been a hard sell the first time, too. But that really was about the way she touched his hair (like that, and he tilted his head, reveling in the too short moment and having to look not too terribly put out when it stopped) or the way he could touch the back of her neck and the base of her spine and feel the shiver that ran through her from start to finish.
There was no real rule about that.
At her tease, he could only smirk, eyes rolling then dropping to the floor like he didn't even hear her, 'I missed you'. It was at her shift that he looked up to follow her eye to the agents, and he, too straightened back into the confident command he didn't remember falling out of. He didn't want to waste either of their time with trying to argue her into resting and more evaluation of her power flux, but he wasn't going to ignore how wary it made him and how much he didn't want to watch her lay so still for a third time. So Tony took his cue from the trio that passed, saying, "We could use your help putting these guys back on the front lines as quickly as possible." That should have kept everyone happy.
