This is a battle song, brothers and sisters
Characters: Magnus, OT Brotherhood and S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents
Setting: Genosha
Content: Violence and anger and stuff
Summary: The island is under attack and Magnus has been wounded. He contemplates his immortality and watches as his worst fears about humanity are realized.
Notes: Magnus will be holed up in his mansion but anyone who wants to can come see him, otherwise you can post as if you're on other parts of the island fighting people or whatever. If no S.H.I.E.L.D. agents end up here, that's okay too, we can just assume they showed up and took care of things.
At first Magnus thought nothing of it- the arrival of these latest helicopters after relief organizations had arrived since the hurricane's end- and that was his mistake. They came out shooting, indiscriminately, men women and children. They did not even spare the humans, the good samaritans who had come to aid Genosha in its recent time of crisis. The hurricane had been brutal, and it wasn't something they'd been able to predict or prevent. Magnus wished sincerely they had a weather manipulator, but at least the varied abilities of the island's inhabitants made clean up after the storm far easier and the healers precluded casualties. Still, there was much to do, and it would be foolish not to admit to himself that the disaster had weakened the island's defenses and disillusioned its inhabitants. Then the vultures came, these mutant haters with their firearms and devoid of conscience, taking advantage of the opportunity.
Magnus broadcast his threat- a message, really, for his Brotherhood members dispersed elsewhere- and then went forth to meet the intruders. He killed as indiscriminately as they; weapons turning to shoot their wielders and metal soaring through the air to impale and entrap. Magneto had just begun to destroy their helicopters when he felt a sting in his neck. Reaching up, Magnus' fingers came away with a small plastic dart. He stared at it in utter confusion. Without metal in it, he hadn't even felt its approach.
He also didn't feel the bullets until they hit him, and those were metal. With a roar Magnus turned and spotted the shooter behind him, a gray colored weapon in one hand and a pistol in the other. The man was raising the pistol to take a third shot, screaming "Mutant scum!" when a Genoshan swooped down from the sky and took the shooter out. Magnus was in unimaginable pain and he stared down at his bloodied abdomen, in a state of shock. It had been a very long time since the Master of Magnetism had been wounded in a battle. One bullet had gone straight through him, the other was was still lodged inside, and as he tried to manipulate it and get it out, he realized that his ability was gone. The dart, then, had been a form of power inhibiting serum. It shouldn't, in retrospect, have surprised him at all; of course his enemies would have come prepared. But now it made the situation all the worse- they'd come to render Genosha completely defenseless and slaughter it.
