Over the sound of the engine, Hulkling couldn't hear anything. With his eyes squeezed shut against the wind, his every breath sucked from his throat, his wings flattened painfully against his back. So when it all suddenly stopped and he dropped like a stone, it was something of a surprise. Much like the surprise of the stopping jolt from the bubble after the split second free fall, Hulkling's eyes wide and panicked by then to watch the airplane's wing cut through the air above him, then disappear with the roar of the engine to make him squeeze his eyes shut again against the glare of the sun. Less like the surprise of Billy's hand in his, that had him taking his first deep breath in what felt like eternity, nodding dumbly at the words he didn't quite hear until Billy was done.
Dutifully, he launched back into action, rolling off the invisible platform Wiccan had caught him with to drop through the air again, only to catch himself this time and swoop after the plane once more. Slow it down? Just making it turn had been traumatizing enough, and the effort of keeping up with the thing at all was exhausting. In fact, Hulkling had just almost reached the plane's tail and made a couple reaching tries to grab at it when it wobbled and just about turned on its side, veering away from Cassie again. "Not fair!" he yelled after it, voice lost in the howling wind.
