While it was infinitely flattering to realize he couldn't help but give the impression he was about to leap upon and sexually assault someone, Tony didn't let it go to his head. Instead, he embraced Susan's discomfort, giving her just the barest suggestion of personal space as he straightened on his perch, elbow locked to keep him balanced with just a hand on the back of the chair behind Sue, but didn't relieve her of his steady observation. It was little wonder she couldn't hold Reed's attention; she gave far too many mixed signals. Lucky for her, Tony would rather put the puzzle together than figure out what each piece meant.
"Tell you what," he started, then waited for her to work up the courage to catch his eye again to flash her a reassuring smile before going on. "Seeing as 'my team' is the afterthought here, let's forget about them for now," he suggested, smile turning wicked until Sue's blush was back and she realized there was no disputing what Tony had already heard. "Don't worry, I like everything to be about me, anyway. Let's say I let you come with me on my next consultation," he continued, letting the messy business of what that would cost Sue go unsaid-- after all, the price was never polite conversation-- and foster in all the most exciting ways in the imagination, "and if the experience touches you in all the right places, we'll think about some variable positions here at the office." He let Sue adjust to the concept, drawing away completely to leave his untouched coffee on the table again and remain standing where she might be able to take in and assess the entirety of the offer, but his finish was still conversational. "And if that still isn't fulfilling enough, we'll take your offer to Captain America," 'we' not necessarily including Sue at all when they got to that point, "who will probably put it to a vote. I can't make any guarantees."
