Re: Angry Coco Bear, America Bear and Rich Nilla Bear + Carol Shit, she cursed mentally. She had just assumed that 'specialist' meant doctors, not the director of SHIELD - Nick [expletive] Fury. What was it that they said about assuming, who did it make an ass out? It didn't matter, Carol was already on her feet. She greeted him with a rigid salute and held at attention until otherwise directed. "General Fury, sir!"
She recognized him from years ago, shortly after she had returned home from Afghanistan, but under completely different circumstances. It was during a medal presentation. Now, any fool could be awarded the Purple Heart...but the Air Force Medal of Honor? That was an honor reserved for only the most idiotic of individuals - the half-crazed, torture survivors who expose a secret sects of double agents trading secrets from Langley with Taliban Militants. Shinies were apparently the military's version of the Band-Aid, it was just too bad that they didn't hand out casks of scotch during those award ceremonies too. Carol wondered if General Fury recognized her without the wheel chair and arm-sling.
And as for the other two...Carol had met Tony Stark just once before. Just once. Carol hadn't spent much time thinking about Tony, at all, in the years since she had last seen him. To her, the past was the past and she preferred to keep it that. She always associated him with her time spent in Afghanistan and, understandably, tried to block all memories, including Tony, from her mind. But now, perhaps, she thought it unfair to compartmentalize him in such a way, especially when he was very much right here, right now, stinking up the containment chamber with his cigar smoke. And, yes, she did want one, but gave no indication otherwise, remaining stoic until the General gave the command to stand at ease.
The other man? Carol didn't recognize at all, but noted he was an army captain. It certainly begged the question what did the director of SHIELD, an army captain and Iron Man want with her?
