"But I did when I started. The important part is accepting that there's going to be a lot of background noise. Your mind is used to keeping the volume up because the world requires it to do so, otherwise it wouldn't get your attention. It takes quite a while to learn to turn it up or down at will.
"If you'd like, we could transition to something more physical. Moving meditation can be very effective in sharpening focus. By attempting to perfect every aspect of a movement, you can wholly occupy your mind with a single subject- thus clearing it of distractions."
He paused for a moment. "We'll keep it fairly light- how about some Tai Chi. Anything too strenuous might ruin your dress" he said.
