"Never you worry," the Red Queen said, tone clearly intended to soothe, but there was a mocking note hidden beneath the platitudes. "Your confidences are as secure as they ever were, and nothing at all was disclosed to me. I simply took what I needed."
Black Cat was visibly agitated, so the Red Queen quit her pacing and took a step toward her, still leaving plenty of space between them. "I'll get to the point. I am the Red Queen, leader of a unique band of superpowered women known as the Sisterhood. I am gathering new recruits, and your unique reputation as the Black Cat caught my interest, so I made it my business to find a way to contact you."
She held up a hand to forestall any objection the Black Cat might make about how she wasn't interested. "And, of course, to determine what offer might best catch your interest. I hope you'll excuse my blatant approach earlier, but I thought it might serve as a demonstration that I am more than capable of delivering upon my promises: Your father's freedom from the Kingpin."
