Tears were really not what Tony wanted to deal with, and he straightened to back away from the desk as if the distance between he and Wanda already was not enough to keep them from getting on him. Surely, it was the hand he started to raise against them that dammed their flow, the other hand on his chest to encourage Wanda to keep doing as he had already instructed. The result was, Tony still didn't know what he was supposed to be doing here; rallying the troops or just providing comfort. Was there more people being shot at, or was the incident contained? Surely, there had to be some situation, because Wanda was looking overly distraught for saving someone's life.
"Did you just notice the hazards of your line of work?" Perhaps unnecessarily condescending, and maybe the bemused laugh was a little cruel, but Tony was a little lacking in context for this visit. He hadn't even seen Wanda in weeks. Maybe she had just been like this since he last left her. With the threat of tears contained for the time being, though, he found the confidence to leave the safety of his desk and come hesitantly closer, still unsure if that was what she wanted from him.
