If she noted Tony's waspish tone, Wanda chose to ignore it as she shifted properly on the bike's seat. The helmet interface was incredibly distracting and it was JARVIS' words rather than Tony's glance that warned her of their imminent departure. Even given notice, she was still caught off guard and lurched forward to throw her arms snugly around Tony's waist. They navigated the city with surprising ease but with an equally surprising recklessness. Wanda could only attribute the former circumstance with the latter as Tony jetted through stop lights, rode along the road shoulders to avoid traffic jams and took shortcuts the wrong way down one-way side-streets. It was unsettling but strangely exhilarating, especially given the realization that if they crashed she would have no magical fail safe to ensure her survival. She hadn't experienced an adrenaline rush like this since she'd driven a car over a cliff and even that experience had been blighted by a terror that she just could not bring herself to feel as she clung to Tony. Her impetuous knight provided this princess with a wonderful false sense of security.
Her exhilaration increased when they left the city for empty stretches of road, barreling along at speeds she'd never dared go even in the fastest of her cars. A trip that, she supposed, would have been rather longer when undertaken by other drivers was accomplished in a surprisingly short time as they pulled off the Palisades Interstate Parkway and onto a road whose name flashed over the visor screen as "Bear Mountain State Park." This meandering path took them to another road called "Perkins Memorial Drive." The drive led right to the top of- as the HUD labeled it- Bear Mountain, though they were still going so fast that Wanda didn't exactly get a chance to enjoy the scenic route. Abruptly, they pulled to the roadside and Wanda slid from the bike, stiff and chilled to the bone but properly awestruck by the breathtaking view from the mountain's clifftops.
