When somethings broke, I wanna put a bit of fixin on it.
Characters: Happy, Cap
Setting: The gym in the Avengers Tower
Content: Nohing bad
Summary: Happy reports to his new other boss
Talking to Captain America wasn't something Happy could put off for much longer and he knew this and yet he kept delaying. Somehow even telling Pepper about his apparent new role as Iron Man was easier than going to Steve Rogers with the same news. Captain America was kind of a big deal. Sure, Happy met celebrities all the time, but Steve was a different breed of famous. Happy actually respected him, maybe even idolized him a little- he'd had the man's picture on some trading cards he owned as a kid when they'd decided to sully baseball card packages with superhero facts during a metahuman fad in the late seventies. Anyway, Cap had been one of Happy's heroes growing up, behind the sports legends of course. Great as Cap was, he was still no Larry Holmes or Reggie Jackson or Thurman Munson. Still though, Captain America, and here Happy had to walk up and say, "Hey man, I'm your new Avenger." It was more than a little daunting, but it still had to be done because it seemed pretty clear at this point that Tony definitely wasn't donning the suit again any time soon. As far as he knew, Tony had- thankfully- already apprised the Captain of the situation so that was one stressful load off Happy's shoulders at least.
Now to drop the rest of the burden and face Cap. He made his way to the tower and asked JARVIS where to find Cap. Stop being so nervous he chided himself during the ride up in the elevator you've talked to the man before. It was true, they'd chatted here and there and Cap was always friendly enough and Happy was always polite and distant but now they were supposed to be teammates. With a deep breath Happy steeled himself and pushed his way through the gym doors. "Er, hi," he called out, crossing over to where Cap stood near the punching bags. "Looks like I'm your new Avenger, sir."
