"All right," she murmured in reply to what amounted to, as she had expected, a trite sympathy. Commiseration. Empathy. From a man who disdained her past and who had clashed with Pietro and who had to be roaring drunk just to approach her at all. And Nick thought Pietro was a terrorist again. And she was too ashamed to talk to Cap about this. And Tony was somewhere lost in this crowd and maybe she needed him or Cap or Nick or Pietro. And Pietro was gone. Probably of his own accord. It was probably her fault. Wanda was finding this train of thought far too difficult to bear and, though she fought it with all her might, tears began leaking from her eyes to drip down her cheeks. Her face remained averted from him and even when he stood she did not look around. It was his words that had her glancing up, scrubbing vainly at her tear-streaked cheeks. "I can call you a cab," she said quietly, taking a deep breath to try and calm herself.
