Reed pushed up the glasses that had been sliding down his nose. "Uhhh," he stammered at Ben's comment. "Sue's right, actually. We have been making some headway into the time travel project. But, at the moment we can't go any farther with it until we get S.H.I.E.L.D clearance to utilize the N-Zone site in Nevada for the initial tests. I think the last time we went through has them scared to okay any further use."
Also, Sue, I think I've found out why any of the specimens we've been developing haven't been receptive to the faster-than-warp travel. The initial jump causes slight cellular deterioration that single-celled organisms can't stand up to." Reed paused trying to find the best way to put it. "I theorize that we'll have to send more complex organisms through, but PETA'll have a fit if we try to send any trained animals through, much less any people. So we're at a bit of a stand-still."
Suddenly Reed's eyes widened as a thought occurred to him, and he pulled his head back through the door frame and into the lab.
