The man watched Emma with a close eye. He felt he had to be careful with her. He considered her a friend, but wasn't really too close to her at the moment. They should have understood one another greatly, since they were both out of the country when a lot of business happened at the school.
As she asked about the cure, Scott's face twisted to look like he was punched in the gut. "We don't know a lot yet. Fury gave us a tip about a showcase. It showed a live demo of a mutant cure. We only know it is temporary, and the mutant seemed to lose all forms of power." He knew it sounded like a mission brief, but he couldn't help that tone of voice. "We are trying to keep the kids from finding out, until we know more. I plan on talking with Fury about it later, and then have a staff meeting. When I know the exact reason for it, I will let everyone know."
He nodded, pleased with his answer. There was no way of knowing anything other than what he saw, and he wasn't one for gossip. Until he talked to Fury, he wouldn't make a claim...even if he felt it deep inside. Focusing on her once again, he continued. "I think the registration bill is in discussion, so I have a lot to balance. Still not sure how I feel about it, but I will cross that bridge when we get to it. Still, I am sure this cure ties into it." Scott knew exactly how he felt about it, but he wasn't going to tell Emma.
It was hard being the one everyone looked to for answers. You could have your opinion, but you had to keep it bottled inside. If everyone knew Scott was fighting urges to be a rebel, they wouldn't know what to do anymore. Having to keep your opinion hidden and blocked was his lot in life. It was a wonder he didn't lose his sanity years ago. "Anyway, that is kinda depressing. How was your trip?"
