Subject: Team Psychologist
Let me take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Dean Winters. Some of you may remember me from my previous stint here. I'm the team Psychologist, or shrink as some have called me. I want to be called Dr. Dean but will answer if you call me Shrink.
I am available to players and staff. I abide by doctor/patient confidentiality. If you are referred to me by a staff member the only thing I will reveal to that staff member is the that you saw me and as little information as I need to. If you require medications, I will discuss that with the appropriate person/people. Confidentiality is top priority.
As some of you may recall I don't take the same approaches as other people in my profession. I believe the stuffy, impersonal nature of those people only makes my profession get a worse rap. Of course I got into this field at a much younger age so I have very different views than many of them do. Don't be afraid to come see me just because you have a perceived notion of how I am.
If you have issues of any kind see me. I'm not here for the classic psychological issues only. I'm here for anything. If you have issues that you don't wish to discuss with your coaches, come to me and maybe we can work through it. If you have anything on your mind, please stop by my office. I'm available for anything you want to discuss. If you have something on your mind that you don't think is a big issue, still come see me. Stop by my office anytime. A sign will be on the door if I'm with somebody. If that's the case I will have a lock box outside the office. Drop in your name and I'll be in touch asap. You can email me as well. If you have an emergency and I'm not available please contact another staff member.
I will be getting settled in over the next few days. Please stop by my office anytime to talk or say hi. I will be scheduling appointments once I go over files and talk to staff members but I will take time to see anybody who needs me while I'm settling in. I always have time for anybody who needs me.
