Justice was restless and wanted to be outside for a while, for whatever the reason. Maybe it was a byproduct of being trapped in the fucking elevator the other day, maybe it was simply that he'd grown up spending the majority of his time outside, but either way, that was where he wanted to be. He'd started out walking through the Butterfly Gardens and then taking the path over to the hedge maze. He hadn't been in it all that much despite the length of time he'd been at the hotel, but he felt like taking a wander today.
It wasn't long before the oppressive heat of the day began to take its toll, and Justice tugged off his t-shirt and stuck a wad of it into the waistband of his worn jeans so he wouldn't have to carry it. His hair became damp and his skin became shiny with sweat, but he didn't care. He walked along the walls of green, his pace slow, taking out a cigarette and finessing out his lighter so he could flick and inhale. He was thinking about the past, about his childhood in the mountains of Tennessee, about his father and brother and so many others who were gone now. Idly, he wondered if his brother Tim was still alive.
Justice wasn't the sentimental sort, but once in a while he pondered something besides the here and now. Evidently this was one of those days for him, and his expression was distracted as he puffed out smoke.
