A recent article in the Wall Street Journal made mention of couture designers who select runway models to fit their clothes, and in turn they carry it over into their ready-to-wear designs that expect the potential wearer/buyer to fit their bodies to the clothes, rather than designing clothes to fit peoples' bodies.

Do you think that's true? Have you ever bought something that didn't exactly fit, but you were determined to make yourself fit into it because it the latest, greatest thing in fashion?

Based on some things that have happened in the last month, I have updated the rules of the community again.  Please check the userinfo for the updated rules.

I do want to say to the community that I think this is a fun and enjoyable community that I want to see be more active.  Even if I can't update everyday, I would love to see this community updated everyday.  But I have some concerns based on some things I've seen in that last month.

The biggest concern that I have right now is that posts to the community generate discussion within the community.  All that means is if you're posting something, there needs to be something people can talk about here within the community.  Links going elsewhere that generate discussion elsewhere make the community appear dead to a casual observer.  As long as your not promoting anything, you're not breaking the rules, but please do try to use links to generate discussion here.

Posts of quizzes and memes will be deleted.  They are truly meant for your personal IJ.   It's one thing to discuss a meme that's popular or a quiz, it's another to post your results to the community.  Please don't.

Like I said, keep the discussion coming!

The Sean Bell murder trial started yesterday in NY.

The opening arguments were given. The defense characterized Sean Bell as a an out of control drunk. The media continues to focus on the fact that his fiancee identified him on his wedding day in the morgue.

Here are my questions for you:

  • Do these type of facts make a crime worse to you? 
  • Do you find facts of a person's life relevant to a criminal proceeding? Should the criminal pay a higher cost?
  • Does the media focus too much on these side facts? Do they focus enough on the core issues of the case?
  • Specifically here: Does it make it worse that he died at his bachelor party, or that he had two kids? Is it just as bad as if he'd been single and just out at a strip club?

Most of my cooking involve Making Do With Whatever Happens to be in the Fridge due to inability to plan for the foreseeable future, and hey, a bachelor's gotta cook sometimes.

So, any general cooking tips for the lazy and the fuss-free? My solution recently is to add whatever-extra-alcohol-I-happen-to-have-sitting-around. And soysauce.
