Erik nodded. "That is a comfort...you have no idea." The thought of her being here on board was bittersweet. He wouldn't want her near all this chaos...but at least she'd be with him. "Her mother abandoned her at birth so I'm all she's got. I have to get home to her."
He shrugged, giving her a sad smile. "I'm trying not to dwell...as you can see, it's not going very well." He gave an ironic little chuckle because that was the understatement of the year.
"Okay, change of subject time!" Erik declared. "How did you get into the candle shop business?"
